History | |||
Like many successful business ventures, FocusMicro was founded not because of "some great opportunity" or based upon a series of "focus group" meetings or brainstorming sessions. In actuality, FocusMicro was founded for a much more basic reason: to satisfy a need.
In 2001, a group of Seattle based entrepreneurs with a successful business record were concerned with operational difficulties and procedural errors. They began looking for ways to increase the overall functional performance of his company by fine tuning daily routines and training their employees. At the same time they concluded that a side benefit to this effort would be to finally eliminate the last bit inventory shrinkage that still dogged his management team.
Dissatisfied with the quality of video tape recordings from his company's surveillance system, they reviewed the latest in VCR systems only to find that no significant technical advances had been made. Leveraging their extensive understanding of computer technology, they began exploring if any digital recording systems were available on the marketplace.
Their searches were rewarded, and they identified several manufacturers of digital video recorders. In the subsequent review of nearly a score of digital video recorders, they were surprised by the lack of features, stability and reliability of the systems.
They knew that their expectations weren't unreasonable. They knew that other business owners would have similar expectations as well. With their background in technology and shrewd business sense, they knew that the systems that were reviewed did not deliver the full capabilities that state-of-the-art technology was capable of.
The group of partners began the difficult quest to design a digital video server that would meet the company's needs, while meeting his their standards for quality, reliability and ease of use. As the development process progressed, two primary factors became apparent.
First was that some of the hardware and software components that were needed did not exist and would have to be developed internally. Secondly, manufacturers in the security industry were not pushing the technology, but rather the advances in technology were pushing their products. This reversal of a standard R&D business model meant that the Digital Video Server product that had been conceived could evolve into a line of products on its own.
FocusMicro was founded in mid-year 2001, offering a fledgling line of Digital Video Servers that was introduced to the public at large in the fall ASIS tradeshow. The response to FocusMicro's line of products was exceptional and orders skyrocketed. Unswerving in its commitment to delivering only the very best products, FocusMicro expanded its line beginning in early 2002 to include a broad range of CCTV products including cameras, lenses, housings and related components.
FocusMicro began solidifying its position of technical dominance in the CCTV marketplace over the course of the year. Most of the company's emphasis was put on driving the leading edge of technology while delivering powerful, reliable and easy to use products to security organizations. The company also continued to distill its original commitment towards producing and delivering the finest quality products into a philosophy that would soon lead the security industry.
Throughout 2002, the realization grew that the security industry at large was focused on its own bottom line and that the customer came second. In response to the customer needs that were clearly not being met, FocusMicro carefully added to its infrastructure and began to offer customers additional services like systems installation and integration, turnkey project management and a broad array of training courses. FocusMicro also adopted a policy that eliminated the use of subcontractors, preferring instead to guarantee quality by using only company employees at jobsites. All of these changes were done as an outcome of the growing dedication to the new mission statement grew, punctuated by the closing phrase "Every Customer Will Be Our Measure".
By 2003, FocusMicro had matured into a complete security solutions provider. It had developed its staff of management and employees to the point that the company could deliver a complete, integrated turnkey security solution anywhere in the United States. Its state-of-the-art CCTV systems have been expanded to include a full product line of fire, access control, intrusion detection, sound and data systems.
In an exceptional move, FocusMicro adopted a product neutral stance, delivering, installing and maintaining products from every major security product manufacturer in the world. The company's services include the full array of consulting, planning, installation, maintenance & repair and training.
In early 2007, the company is continuing to push the service envelope forward with its partnerships with other nationwide service organizations in order to deliver top quality service where our client's need it. But more importantly, FocusMicro is setting the standard in the industry for customer service and customer support. From top to bottom, the company is completely passionate about and committed to its mission statement:
|
THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INNOVATIVE SECURITY SOLUTIONS, FOCUSMICRO WILL COMMIT TO A POSITION OF LEADERSHIP THROUGH EXCELLENCE AND PERSEVERANCE. OUR PRODUCTS, OUR SERVICE AND OUR CONDUCT WILL BE BENCHMARKS OF QUALITY THAT WE SET.
EVERY CUSTOMER WILL BE OUR MEASURE.
